On Saturday, July 8th, the first day of competition for the 64th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) Japan began.
At 8:00 a.m., the doors of the competition venue opened, and the contestants entered with only a zippered bag containing writing utensils and other essentials, showing a relaxed demeanor. Some teams formed circles with the contestants and deputy team leaders, synchronizing their shouts of encouragement. The contestants will have four and a half hours to work on solving three problems.
